Friends of the Frog

These are the people and organizations that have contributed significantly to making the Launch Pad Job Club the wonderful resource that it is today. LPJC would not be where it is without this generous support.

MICHAEL BROWN, President of Consulting Solutions.Net, is the generous person who pays for our meeting space at the Phillips Pavilion and allows us to meet at their offices at 1016 La Posada for resume tweaking and other meetings.  During the holiday season, he often plays Santa, giving generously to LPJC members who are single parents.  http://www.consultingsolutions.net

AUDRA JOHNSON – is the Professional Relations Coordinator for Consulting Solutions.Net.  She fills in for Michael Brown when he is not available, and she reliably, dependably, despite illness and bad weather, shows up at all our meetings, makes sure the La Posada offices are open when we need them, and stays there long past her normal work day to ensure that our time in their offices goes smoothly.

SHERYL CHEATHAM - Although she’s working a full-time job as an accountant, Sheryl comes early on Fridays to set up the kitchen.  Along with a team of volunteers (Val Richardson, Carol McKinney), she makes coffee, sets out tea, cocoa, bananas, and cookies.  For holidays, she creates fabulous decorations for our “canteen” and dresses the part herself.  She is the perfect smiling, upbeat person to greet jobseekers on Friday mornings.

BRETT TALIAFERRO – While looking for a job in warehousing / logistics, Brett has made himself indispensable to the Launch Pad operation. As the keyholder, he comes early to every meeting, sets up chairs, tables, and audio-video equipment, runs our sound system, takes everything down after the meetings, hauls out the trash, and locks the doors after everything has been restored as it was.  Generally, he is assisted by his AV co-pilot, Don McCaig, and some other volunteers, Paul McKinney, Gary Smith, Paul Witt, Rick Cordle, and Rich Maicach, but sometimes he’s the whole enchilada.

RICK CORDLE and PAUL WITT – In most businesses, the reception point is the most important spot in the entire operation, creating the first impression and providing essential information to visitors. Such is definitely the case with Launch Pad. Rick Cordle (telecommunications systems installation and repair) and Paul Witt (photography) usually come early and stay late to help with chair set-up/take-down, but in between, they man our reception point, making sure people sign in and get the information they need.  It is a vitally important function, and they do it well.

DENNIS SNEAD – Dennis serves on the Launch Pad Board of Directors, but he has also worked his way into the fabric of the weekly meetings. He comes reliably every week and sits at the reception point so that he can assist there. He brings cookies every week. Since he is a financial planner, he presents monthly sessions that inform members about how to manage their investments and other aspects of their financial world during unemployment. Recently, he assumed the role of Volunteer Coordinator. Anyone who wants to join the Launch Pad team talks to Dennis first to get an assignment, job description, arrange for a name tag, and be added to our volunteer list for our end-of-the-year appreciation celebration.
